Lesson 2 builds on the techniques covered in Lesson 1. The main techniques presented are hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides. These tools greatly expand the capabilities of the basic rolls. They make possible most of the licks and other embellishments that turn a beginner into an accomplished bluegrass banjo player.
As you can see by the sample index on the left there's a LOT of stuff in this lesson! There are six tunes or songs and some have two different versions AND an IntelliTab version so you can create your own variations. My goal is to encourage you to experiment with these pieces instead of being locked into a single way of playing them.
Your ultimate goal should be to play YOUR versions of songs and tunes, not just mine. I've tried to give you a good jumping-off point for doing this by making it easy to break tunes down into smaller components that you can move around freely and make up your own variations. This is what playing bluegrass banjo is all about!
